Blossa 24 - Scottish whisky
After a journey across the destination of 2024, Scotland, Blossa 24 was filled with smoke and Scottish mystique.
For the 2024 vintage glögg, Blossa traveled to Scotland and drew inspiration from its dramatic nature, high mountains, low plains and bottomless lakes. On the way, they stopped at Loch Ness, where the sea monster Nessie hides in the depths, before reaching their final destination Edinburgh. Scotland's capital is like something out of a fairy tale filled with mystery, history and a drinking tradition that goes back as far as our Swedish mulled wine.
Blossa 24 was a white fortified wine glögg where the classic spice mix was gilded with smoky, Scottish whiskey and rounded off with the algae dulse, which adds saltiness and umami. The whiskey flavor enhanced the character of the glögg's original sweetness and the smokiness married particularly well with the cloves. The algae as an ingredient was a nod to the legend of the sea monster that hides on the spiky bottom of Loch Ness.
